The Present Moment Is Enough
There are only so many hours in a day. What we choose to do with them matters, because the present moment is the only one we truly have. That’s why it’s essential to be intentional: choose wisely, give our best, reflect on what we’ve done, make plans for tomorrow, and live in deep gratitude, for the gift of breath, presence, and our humanness.
Learning to Let Go of the To-Do List
Like many, I’ve wrestled with the never-ending to-do list. But lately, I’ve given myself more grace. I’ve come to accept that I simply cannot do it all, and that’s okay. We’re living in a time where the pace is relentless, like a river in full surge. I tried to keep my Substack raft afloat, moving with the current. Then life presented a choice. I pulled my craft ashore and paused, making space for something new to germinate.

Seasons of Family, Learning, and Growth
Since my last post, life has unfolded with joyful fullness. We've celebrated Mother’s Day, Spring carnivals, our daughter’s birthday, friends’ birthdays, Father’s Day, Summer Solstice, and Independence Day. Our homeschool journey has continued, even through summer, enriched by new learning and adventures. Our daughter completed a jiu-jitsu competition course, in addition to regular training, and competed in her first tournament. We took a whirlwind trip to Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor in Dallas and enjoyed countless summer swims, with more to come.
My husband and I do our best to keep pace, staying active with gym time, yoga, and outdoor workouts. It’s one way we stay grounded and energized to keep up with our daughter’s vibrant spirit.
A Texas Summer: Beauty and Contrast
This summer in Texas has been uniquely beautiful. Our hilltop home was spared from recent floods, and we remain deeply grateful, even as we hold in our hearts those who weren’t as fortunate. Our freshly landscaped front yard, completed this spring, now hums with life, hummingbirds flitting fiercely between blossoms thanks to the cool and wet summer. Lake Travis, being only half full since before we moved here over three years, rose dramatically to over 90% capacity in just weeks this July. We may have lost our beach under water, yet the full lake provides an abundance of new adventures.
There’s a strange harmony here: the coexistence of flourishing growth and heartbreaking loss. It reminds me that nature often mirrors life, both can hold joy and sorrow at the same time.
New Ventures, Same Heart
The true reason for my pause in writing is this: I’ve been pouring my time and heart into building a new business. Not a day goes by that I don’t think about writing, but I’ve also found tremendous joy and purpose in this new endeavor. Watching it grow and gain momentum has been an incredible experience. For now, I’m allowing the current to carry me where it will. Stay tuned.
Reinvention is Not Failure
I know I’m not alone in this. Friends, fellow parents, and kindred spirits have also taken leap, redefining themselves, their work, and their rhythm. Life is far too short not to try something new. The only true failure is in never daring to begin.
Own Your Path, Love Your People
Whatever season you’re in, own it. What others think of your choices is none of your business. Choose kindness. Spend time with those you love. Stay present. Live with compassion and gratitude. And always be the change you wish to see in this beautiful bountiful world.
