From the depths of an endlessly growing To Do list, I am punching out this update to let you know… I’m still here!
And they say stay at home moms have time on their hands… well, not this one. And I’m certain I’m not alone. A day for me includes cooking almost every meal from scratch for the three of us living, working, and studying at home, attempting to keep ahead of the dishes, sometimes folding clean laundry piled in the corner of the bedroom, and surveying the dust bunnies scattered down the hallways while vehemently dreaming they’d will themselves into a trash bin nearby.
Healthy food is a priority, while much of the other household management duties fall to the wayside because I am my daughter’s teacher and her education is the utmost priority. As I’ve mentioned before, this time we have together is such a gift; a gift of building our family bond, a gift of giving our daughter undivided attention to her educational journey, a gift of flexibility in which we can tailor her education and support an expansive life experience.
As with many homeschoolers, being able to move at your own pace often means you get more done than you can in an attended school room day. At 8 years old, our daughter is currently working through 5th grade Math and Language Arts. Dedicated immersion has given us this opportunity to move at this pace. Through research, we have learned about many homeschoolers who have graduated high school two years early to dive right into collage early as well. My husband even dangled a carrot for our daughter and offered her a car, paid-in-full, if she finished high school early too. She promptly replied, “a Tesla please!”
So while the liberal craziness is promoting domestic terrorism on all things Tesla, our daughter is learning about the value of innovative companies like Tesla and Space Ex, she’s starting to understand stocks (thanks to Daddy’s educational time with her), and she can’t wait to get her own Tesla! Atta girl!
One step at a time, we have the blessing to help develop our children’s future. Our daughter may be many years away from getting behind that steering wheel, of which will be obsolete by the time she gets there, so we’re also spending time developing her entrepreneurial acumen. Coming up this spring, and similar to last year, she will be selling her artwork at a few different Acton Children’s Business Fairs in the local area.
On top of all that preparation work and regular studies, my husband and I, like all parents with kids in events, also shuttle our daughter to her piano classes, jiu jitsu, gymnastics and social outings. Somehow, I squeeze in time to read, exercise, work on my writing here on Substack, plus also foster another little side hustle I’ve started to take more seriously, selling secondhand fashion on Poshmark. (Shameless plug - use my link or code SKYSIMONE for $10 off your first order from any seller on the app.)
I’ve always loved thrifting, have been scouring secondhand treasures for years, have sold endless amounts of stuff on other platforms over the years, and am now having a blast helping others find treasures too! I just sold two beautiful prom/gala dresses and am excited knowing the recipients are going to love wearing them to their events.
Having these side hustles gives me the opportunity to continue working on myself while I’m giving so much of my life to raise and educate my daughter. So I’m okay with the dust bunny domination of our home, because life is worth delving into being the best I can be each day for myself and my family. So that’s where I’ve been. (:
With love, health, and knowledge, may you live abundantly. See you again in the next post.
Warmly,
Brit-Simone
I love to share what works for me and my family on our health and wellness journey. May you too find what best serves you and yours. ☺️
So innovative! Check out these vitamins you can wear and enjoy their benefits as they absorb through your skin throughout the day. Great for kids too! There’s even one for better sleep.
This helps get that sh** out! LOL. It synergistically combines the world's most well-researched and clinically proven liver-rejuvenating ingredients, meticulously chosen to detoxify the liver, clear out bile ducts, and eliminate excess fat!
I love supporting the gut microbiome. Enjoy natural ingredients that focus on eliminating bacterial overgrowth, restoring balance to your microbiome, and help the body heal itself from the inside out.
