Last week I wrote about our road trip, the power of the imagination, and how the Universe responds to the nature of your song. When you put your mind to it, it really does. One must however be aware of what one constantly thinks and projects into the ether, regardless of whether the desire is something big or small. So how does this connect to a troll? Let me explain…
Meet Malin, a new Thomas Dambo Troll nested in Pease Park, Austin
Our Daily Haven
We live, work, and homeschool, well, at home throughout the week. Diving into a weekend adventure is a healthy escape and refresher from the cradle of our home. After a recent busy ski adventure, however, we found ourselves at an intentionally unplanned weekend. Opportunities abound, yet it was time to narrow the selection in order to seize the day and actually get our bodies out the door.
Much Needed Family Time Outdoors
Setting the Scene
A warm, overcast, muggy, yet partially rainy day presented a few challenges on the whether… whether we enjoy nature and its weather, or find refuge with an undercover activity.
We have learned from living in Texas a few years now that rain here differs dramatically from the Pacific Northwest (PNW) from which we came. In the PNW the rain can drizzle endlessly for days and weeks. If you don't adjust yourself with a waterproof outer layer, you may never leave the house. Ok, it's not that bad, but it’s close, and we certainly don't miss it.
Here, however, in Texas, I liken the outburst of an instantaneous deluge similar to weather I experienced in Hawaii growing up. When the rain comes, it usually arrives with gusto. It dumps hard and fast, then moves on.
Keeping this in mind, I reviewed the weather and considered the risk of outdoor adventure. I deemed it worth the challenge to play in nature. To our delight the afternoon was just right. With my intention set on an outdoor experience, deciding exactly where was the next task at hand. I launched into my hiking app and started looking at options within an hour's drive of our nest.
The Mini Troll Landmark for Pease Park
The God Wink
Something magical happened, a God wink. I saw a new social media private message I hadn’t yet checked from a cousin with whom I only occasionally connect. "This might be fun to see, if it's close to you," was her message with a picture of the recently debuted Dambo Troll creation found in Pease Park, Austin, TX.
Ask and you shall receive. Bingo, we were gifted an idea. When these winks happen, we find ourselves at a crossroads in life. Do we seize the moment and take action, or do we let the moment pass us by? Sit in the bleachers or play on the field? The choice is yours. For us, we chose the field and off we went to meet a troll.
Meet Malin
The fresh smell of wood cuttings lingered in air. Malin, the Dambo Troll was only recently finished. She sits tall. She holds an offering bowl in her hands, or perhaps a giant bird bath at times, depending on her visitors. She is adorned with beautiful tribal necklaces. Her residence among the shelter of trees in Pease Park now places Austin on the global map of Dambo Trolls much sought after by travelers far and wide.
The Recycled Material Trolls
I was first introduced to the Thomas Dambo Trolls while chatting with a friend about their family’s summer vacation to Europe and their hunt for the famous trolls supplanted throughout the world. Along with all the label reading and health research I continually pursue, the Dambo website was yet another I opened in the litany on my phone needing further investigation.
These trolls have developed into international sensation with a troll map available to help design your own plans to find them. We were so fortunate to have one created within an hour’s drive of our home.
With over 100 erected worldwide, Thomas Dambo, a Danish recycling artist, is on a mission to show the world that beautiful things can be made out of trash. He focuses on upcycling and recycling. Dambo states that 80% of Malin is made from recycled, repurposed, or found materials.
Not all of Dambo’s creations are not all trolls either. Being an Aussie myself, I thought the shark, kangaroo and snake, located in the area I grew up, were pretty cool too. Dambo’s YouTube site also provides a ton of videos including DIY projects, so if you’re in the mood to bust out your tools, you may enjoy sparking your creativity through his recycled art videos.
Side Note on Recycling
When I was little I noticed my grandparents saved everything. Everything back then, which really wasn’t too long ago, was made of better materials. I loved a that toasters were actually all metal. Many products were made using sturdy metal components, strong aged wood, and hardy plastic. Fast forward to today, and we find ourselves in a consumer world full of plastic and disposable items easy to dump and replace thanks to the ease online shopping.
Back to intention… if we want to keep a beautiful planet, its up to each one of us to do our part and make wise and creative decisions with our refuse. Companies like Recapturit have created an exclusive online marketplace for architectural salvage keeping valuable materials out of the dump and into reuse. Maybe you can build a tree house for your kids, or a sculpture, or even an Earthship.
Back to Pease Park and its Art
After making our peace at Pease Park with Malin, we took advantage of the other art in the park delights to entertain our little one. This is a serene park to hang out in for a while whether you have kids, pets, or just adults. Perhaps bring a picnic meal with you and stay a while.

The Winks Are Abound
It’s the little things in life the weave the web in which we are all interconnected. When you open yourself up to the energy, hone in on your thoughts and awareness, the synchronicity is hardly random or chance, but a dance to the nature of your song.
Like little fireworks of energy, I delight in moments like these that tickle my soul and bring a smile to my face knowing that my thoughts and desires are manifesting. However each one of us connects to source is our independent journey. The force is always with us. (Yes, we love Star Wars in this family.)
May you find joy in your world by all that you manifest. Know that whatever you don’t want keeps showing up because you’re focused on it. Focus on what you want. Know that it is here. Enjoy it and breathe in all the beauty around you. Create your adventure. Find some cool trolls and other magical artwork other humans have brought to life from their imaginations.
Thank you to our cousin for being part of this creation. Thank you all for joining me on another adventure!
In gratitude,
Brit-Simone

I am in my 50’s and I am healthy. In our family, we live as chemical free, organic, and clean ingredient based as possible. We cook almost all our meals from scratch. We mostly eat real food, not food products. We love the Butcher Box delivery for clean and cared for sourced protein.
At 8 years old, my daughter understands the difference between organic and conventional, GMOs, seed oils versus good oils, proteins, carbohydrates, and sugars, and what to focus on for healthy living. And we supplement because we know our soils are not as nutrient rich as they once were. Plus modern innovation in the wellness longevity space is discovering supplements that are remarkably life changing.
